Sandra

Hello, my name is Ms. Sandra and I am from nearby Chicago, Illinois, USA. I¡¯ve been in Korea for many years and taught a variety of ages and programs. I have my Bachelor of Arts degree from Columbia College Chicago in Illustration, which allows me to be creative in my classes. I enjoy using my illustrative skills to bring fun and spontaneity to the classroom.
My teaching style revolves around making the students comfortable to try and try again. I have taught various age groups in academies, and I have a lot of experience with early learners. I am described by my students as a funny, fair, and kind teacher. I always make sure to explain why things are done a certain way and why the rules are enforced so the students feel involved in their own safety and security. I cannot wait to meet my lovely students!

Emily

Hi! My name is Ms. Emily and I¡¯m from Chester, Virginia, USA. I graduated from James Madison University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Affairs with a Minor in Asian Studies and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Media Arts and Design. I also received my TEFL certification. I first came to Korea in 2017 as an exchange student at Kyung Hee University, fell in love with the country, and came back in 2021 to teach English.
In my classroom, I believe confidence and creativity are two of the most important aspects of learning. Therefore, I try my best to create a kind and welcoming atmosphere through encouragement and my calm nature. Even though I consider myself to be calm, I do know how to have fun! I¡¯ve taught pop dance classes informally at university and still try to incorporate some movement in my classes as something exciting for the kids to get out of their energy. I want my students to try their absolute best and love coming to class so that we can learn all kinds of things together. I¡¯m looking forward to this year and meeting all of the students!

Harrison

Hello! My name is Mr. Harrison. I grew up near Chicago, Illinois in the United States. During university I pursued and completed a BA in History with a minor in English. While I was studying, I began volunteering at an ESL program and became interested in language instruction. After graduation, I decided to come to Korea to teach English and have been teaching English to children in Seoul ever since. Living and teaching in Korea has been a wonderful experience full of challenges, adventures, and a lot of learning. The reason I enjoy teaching English so much is that it gives me a chance to be active and creative, as well as help children learn something they will use for the rest of their lives. My goal in each class is to ensure that every student takes away something fun and something useful. I believe the best way to accomplish this is to really get to know all of the students and to make lessons and activities that educate and inspire them. Classes are the most effective when the teachers and students are all engaged, and it is my job to make sure that happens. I am really looking forward to the coming school year and all of the exciting things we are going to do together here at LOTIS.

Small steps toward independence give students the confidence to keep trying even when they encounter something difficult. My goal is for every student to leave the classroom feeling like they have accomplished the challenges they have met.

Jennifer

Hello! I am Ms. Jennifer. I am from a city in Canada called Windsor. I have been living in Korea for many years and have a variety of experience teaching both kindergarten and after-school programs. This year I am very honored to be your child¡¯s first teacher that they meet at LOTIS. I have an honors degree in Criminology with a minor in French. I know what it is like to begin studying a brand-new language at a young age so I empathize and sympathize with many of the young students who come in and are very nervous about a new environment with a new language. I love to encourage expression, critical thinking skills, and independence in my classroom. My goals are always the same: helping to grow a child¡¯s confidence in themselves in order to help them achieve their goals. I look forward to inspiring each of your children!

Kelly

Hello, I¡¯m Ms. Kelly! I grew up in Michigan in the United States and have been living and teaching in Korea for many years. While teaching, I work hard to create a comfortable, loving atmosphere where my students aren¡¯t afraid to make mistakes. I believe that each child has unique strengths, varied prior language learning experiences, and preferred learning styles. I always do my best to differentiate my instructions to provide enough challenge and enough support for all children to build on their success and develop positive attitudes about learning. I understand the importance of early education so I am looking forward to helping my students learn and watching them grow throughout our time together. I can¡¯t wait to see all that we can accomplish!

Lucinda

Hello! My name is Ms. Lucinda, and I am from Tennessee in the United States. I grew up in a rural area before moving to Virginia Beach, Virginia, to attend university. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from Regent University. I have been teaching students of various ages and levels in Korea for many years.
I believe independent thinking and curiosity are very important for a child¡¯s growth. Asking questions and trying new things help develop each student¡¯s cognitive and creative skills. My classroom is a safe space where students can make mistakes and learn from them, knowing that each mistake helps them grow. This is a value I strongly believe in and use to encourage every student. I want my students to enjoy coming to class and to discover something they love to learn or do. I look forward to meeting all the students this coming year!
